Reflections:
"We helped the children make bookmarkers with paint, markers, stickers, and glitter pens.Even though the paint got a little messy, we know that the kids enjoyed doing the project."- Valerie Go on the Family Reading Program sponsored by SDLC

"Our project for the kids at Becky's House was to make greeting cards for Mother's Day. Most of the kids were ready and waiting, with photos in hand, to start making their cards...I think that any child takes pleasure in any kind of craft." -Christina Molinaro on Becky's House

"I had fun planning this event... Whenever I go to Becky's House, I am always a little more appreciate for the things I have in life."-Teresa Vo on Becky'sHouse

Service to the Community

Chi Gamma Phi provides its own manual labor to many different organizations and causes throughout San Diego. It is our hope that with future classes we may organize various fundraising events to help finance the causes of worthy non-profit organizations. In due time the less fortunate in our community may benefit in every aspect of our compassion. This is our will and commitment, and through our philanthropy we feel content knowing we have directly helped make the lives of others a little better.
- Forever and Beyond

A Community Giving Through Philanthropy

Chi Gamma Phi's previous services during the 2001-2002 academic year brought insight and compassion to all of its participants. Philanthropy often calls for hard work, but sometimes it involves as little as time, patience and a bit of love.

Our History :
In the tradition of many Greek organizations before us, Chi Gamma Phi was officially established at the University of California, San Diego on January 25th, 2002. Chi Gamma Phi consisted of seven founding mothers who felt the campus of UCSD lacked an organization dedicated solely to community service and sisterhood. United for this reason, the seven sisters:  Anna Chan, Joanna Chang, Valerie Go, Sun Hwang, Christina Molinaro, Christina Sayama, Teresa Vo envisioned a sorority that would promote and foster Community Service, Goodwill and Friendship among the women of UC San Diego.  They believed that sisterhood itself could foster enough strength and courage to improve, support, and protect our community. When the concept for a new sorority became reality, their beliefs formally became the Vision and Mission of Chi Gamma Phi. With the help of Chris Menor, an alumni of Cal Poly Pomona Alpha Sigma Lambda, and eight weeks of intensive pledgeship, these seven exceptional women gained the priceless qualities of strength, courage, and ambition. It was during this time that these women began laying the foundation for this extraordinary organization. Chi Gamma Phi established in the winter of 2002 stands today as the first and only service based sorority on the campus of the University of California, San Diego.

Vision :
Our Founding mothers envisioned upon our sisterhood is the strength and courage to improve, support and protect our community.

Mission Statement :
In protecting our vision, it is our mission to foster Community service, Goodwill and Friendship among our members, peers, and community. Chi Gamma Phi encourages a well-rounded college career by promoting sisterhood, moral ethics, leadership skills, and a commitment to the community. The expectation of our Founding Mothers is for every member to attain her personal best, seek new opportunities, and be able to carry on the self-growth process past her university years. We mission to constantly strengthen Chi Gamma Phi's presence on the campus of UC San Diego, and support the expansion of our beliefs to other colleges and universities. It is always an endless goal to increase awareness of Chi Gamma Phi everywhere, and build a volunteer support base to further our causes and promote our vision. The sisters of Chi Gamma Phi are proud to be a Community Giving through Philanthropy.
